Southwinds is a small hobby kennel, breeding only quality AKC registered Great Pyrenees. We are dedicated to producing working ability with beauty and brains. All of our breeding stock AKC conformation champions or major pointed with strong working attitudes. We are concerned with the health of our dogs and therefore hips and elbows are certified as clear of hip dysplasia and other orthopedic issues by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals prior to being used for breeding purposes. 

Puppies are socialized with cats, goats and people. All of our animals come with health and temperment contracts. Working dogs, conformation show prospects, companions and adults are occassionally available.  

We have participated in many different activities with our Great Pyrenees since aquiring our very first Pyr, Oso, in 1988.  We enjoyed the challenge of obedience, but found our true niche in AKC conformation shows.  Since we aquired our very first conformation Pyr, Inxs, we have never looked back.  It has been enjoyable and we hae met many wornderful people along the way.  But, we have never lost sight of what Great Pyrenees were originally bred to do - provide a regal deterrent to predators while guarding the flocks.

 We are located in beautiful Northeastern Oklahoma in the area known as "Green Country".  One hour from Joplin, MO and one hour from Tulsa, OK.  You are more than welcome to contact us to arrange a visit to our facilities.  We welcom visitors and are always happy to show off our beauties.
